Organization Summary: Recovery Bartow, Inc. is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) recognized by and in good standing with the Georgia Council for Recovery since 2019 when we received our IRS designation as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. The Arena is our recovery community center located at 109 Stonewall Street, Cartersville, GA, and is the heart of the work we do throughout Bartow and Gordon Counties. Our mission is twofold: facilitate the development of local resources that will support the individuals and families seeking recovery from drug addiction and mitigate the devastation of drug overdoses by promoting recovery-focused harm reduction principles and activities.
Position Summary: The Executive Director provides leadership, vision, direction, and oversight to the staff and volunteers at The Arena. The Executive Director leads organizational development and strategic planning, optimizes financial performance, oversees the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) and National Opioid Settlement Fund contract program deliverables, builds donor and community stakeholder relationships that result in stable financial resources and effective collaborations that further the mission of Recovery Bartow. The Executive Director works closely with and reports directly to the Recovery Bartow Board of Directors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and expand organizational programs to further missional goals
- Cultivate collaborative partnerships within the business, faith, and nonprofit communities
- Oversee and participate in all fundraising efforts including sponsorships, grants, and individual donor campaigns
- Assist Board of Directors with development and management of annual budget
- Maintain processes for proper record keeping and internal financial controls
- Ensure organization is in compliance with all grant and funding regulations
- Foster a culture of integrity and professionalism within the community and staff
- Develop mutually supportive relationships with peers in the recovery community
- Implement a community-wide marketing plan that educates, builds support, and reduces stigma
- Promote attendance, adherence to, and advocacy initiatives and events of the Georgia Council for Recovery, our state certifying organization
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be in sustained, long-term (5+ years) recovery from drug or alcohol addiction
- Must be a Georgia Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) or willing to obtain the certification within 90 days
- Lives their recovery “out loud” and uses their lived experience to inspire others
- May be a recovery “ally” with extensive lived experience supporting people with a SUD
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience
- Knowledge and experience in fundraising and marketing
- Proven experience with building and managing budgets.
- Positive, enthusiastic, outgoing personality who thrives in a highly relational environment
- Creative, problem-solving, outside-the-box thinking ability
- Compassionate, self-motivated, flexible, calm and focused in stressful situations
- Commitment to multiple pathways of recovery and recovery-focused harm reduction
- Promotes and exhibits the importance of self-care in recovery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher), virtual meetings and documentation (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google), and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter/X)
- Maintains professional demeanor and dress
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of sustained, long-term recovery
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Nonprofit management experience or training
- Actively pursuing a four-year degree or beyond
- Additional peer-based certifications – CPS-AD, CPS, FPM, WRAP, WHAM, IPS
- Skilled in person-first, recovery-focused language
